1928 UCB, a chemical and pharmaceutical company in Brussels, was founded in 1928 by Emmanuel Janssen as a spin-off of Solvay and Cie. 
1961 UCB merged with three closely related companies: Fabelta, the Belgian national chemical fiber company; Sidac, the Belgian national packaging plastic film producer; and Pegamoid, a small vinyl sheet producer.
2004 UCB reinforced its pharmaceuticals expertise by acquiring a science-based, British biotechnological company, Celltech.
2024 UCB partnered with Ailux Biologics, a Division of XtalPi, to leverage XtalFold for the discovery and engineering of biologics.
