Innovation Spotlight: ATI: Automotive Sensors

Report Code: IAS162A

There are more than 30 electrical/electronic systems and more than 100 sensors in a typical modern automobile. This will continue to grow, and all signs point towards cars being increasingly autonomous in coming years.

Semi-automated vehicles and self-driving cars are being adopted by the automobile industry as the next evolutionary step in vehicular technology. But improvements are needed inside the cars to support the additional data needed for them to operate autonomously.

BCC interviewed Dr. David Breed of Automotive Technologies International (ATI), which specializes in next-generation safety products such as Smart Airbags, wireless and powerless tire pressure monitors, and pedestrian detection systems.
