Company Overview

Aurora Cannabis was incorporated in December 2006 and today is among the largest producers of medical cannabis worldwide. Aurora’s wholly owned subsidiary, Aurora Cannabis Enterprises Inc., is a licensed producer of medical cannabis pursuant to Health Canada’s Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR). Aurora strives to consistently offer at least two high CBD, low THC strains at all times along with a wide variety of high THC, low CBD strains and mid THC, mid CBD strains. This commitment along with its dedication to open communication with its clients, including an up-to-the-minute app that indicates availability and ordering options, have put Aurora at the forefront of patients’ preferences list. 

Additionally, the company operates through other subsidiaries including Aurora, CanniMed, MedReleaf, Whistler Medical Marijuana Corp. (WMMC), AltaVie, San Rafael, The Woodstock Cannabis Co., and Whistler Cannabis Co. 

Aurora is also firmly committed to not utilizing the process of cold pasteurization of cannabis via cobalt-60 irradiation. While this popular technique is effective in reducing microorganisms and has been proven to leave no radioactive residue behind, there is research that indicates the heat associated with the process can have a negative effect on cannabis terpenoids. Terpenoids, which are responsible for cannabis’ unique aromas and flavors, are volatile compounds that are highly sensitive to heat. It believes in preserving as much of cannabis’ medical potential as possible and avoid exposing it to processes that may have any potential impact on quality. Its approach to producing cannabis involves stringent production practices, including extensive room sanitization procedures-both in-process and post-process. 

Aurora’s growth strategy includes investing in diverse opportunities and engage in strategic partnerships and agreements to further accelerate its domestic and international expansion plans. In a recent statement by the company, it is rapidly developing its assets and capabilities in the emerging CBD-based wellness category. Aurora acquired Reliva in May 2020, a leader in the hemp-derived CBD products market, further expanding Aurora’s presence in the US market.
