CeramTec GmbH is a manufacturer and supplier of technical ceramics and ceramic components. The company operates 16 production sites in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. It develops and customizes ceramic components for a wide range of applications such as automotive, mobility and e-mobility, cutting tools, electrical engineering & electronic applications, mechanical & plant engineering, and medical technology. The company produces more than 10,000 products and components made of high-performance ceramics.

CeramTec offers technical ceramics in four categories of ceramic materials, including silicate ceramics, oxide ceramics, non-oxide ceramics and piezoceramics. Silicate ceramics mainly consist of a combination of raw materials such as aluminum oxide (alumina) and aluminum silicates. The oxide ceramics group includes materials that consist of metal oxides, such as aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, aluminum titanate, and dispersion ceramics.

Non-oxide ceramics include ceramic materials based on compounds of carbon, nitrogen, and silicon, such as silicon carbide, silicon nitride, and aluminum nitride. Piezoceramics (also known as functional ceramics) are ceramic materials that serve to convert mechanical variables into electrical variables, or vice versa, electrical signals into mechanical movements or vibrations.
