Company Snapshot
Company Overview
SUMCO Corp. is a Japan-based manufacturer dedicated to producing high-purity monocrystalline silicon wafers for the semiconductor industry. Established in early 2000, through a merger of Sumitomo Metal Industries and Mitsubishi Materials' silicon operations, the company leverages decades of expertise dating back to 1937. It offers a broad portfolio of wafers, including polished wafers (PW), annealed wafers (AW), epitaxial wafers (EW), silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers, junction-isolated wafers (JIW) and reclaimed wafers (RPW). These products are manufactured using advanced methods such as the Czochralski (CZ), magnetic CZ and float zone (FZ) processes in diameters ranging from 100 mm to 300 mm. SUMCO's operations are strongly export-driven, with approximately 80% of its revenue generated from overseas markets.
