Tower Semiconductor
Company Snapshot
Company Overview
Founded in 1993, Tower Semiconductor Ltd. is a global specialty foundry offering advanced analog integrated circuits with geometries ranging from 1.0 to 0.13-microns. The company provides technology and manufacturing platforms for integrated circuits (ICs) in growing markets: consumer, industrial, automotive, mobile, infrastructure, medical and aerospace and defense. The company offers 150 mm, 200 mm and 300mm wafer production facilities.
Tower Semiconductor operates multiple manufacturing facilities in three geographic regions: two fabs (150mm and 200mm) located in Israel, two fabs (200mm) in the U.S., two fabs (200mm and 300mm) in Japan through its partnership with Nuvoton Technology Corp. Japan and sharing a 300mm manufacturing facility being established in Italy with STMicroelectronics.
Tower Semiconductor revenue in 2021 was $1,508.2 million, compared to $1,265.7 million in 2020. The $242.5 million revenue increase is attributed mainly to an increase in the quantity of products (CMOS silicon wafers) manufactured and shipped to its foundry customers from factories in Israel, the U.S. and Japan in 2021 and to the increasing average selling price per product.
R&D expenses for the year 2021 amounted to $85.4 million, a $7.1 million increase compared to the previous year, reflecting Tower Semiconductor’s continuous focus on enhancing its mid-term and long-term product development funnel, technology capabilities and future design wins.
