It operates through three segments: Industrial automation and control, measuring instruments, new businesses, and others. The Industrial Automation and Control segment develops production and quality management, asset management, energy management/optimization, operation support, cyber security, and information analysis solutions; and enterprise resource planning, integrated production control and safety instrumented systems, as well as programmable controllers, differential pressure/pressure transmitters, flowmeters, recorders, analyzers and other products for monitoring and controlling processes in various production facilities. The Measurement instruments segment offers waveform and optical communication measuring instruments, signal generators, drug discovery support systems, and confocal scanner units, as well as measuring instruments for electric power, temperature, and pressure for the research and development, production, and maintenance of electrical equipment, electronics, automobiles, communications systems, and other products. The new business and other segments provide aviation equipment, such as flat-panel displays, engine meters, and other instruments; marine navigation equipment, such as gyrocompasses and autopilot systems; and hydrological and meteorological monitoring equipment.

The company entered the drug discovery support market in 2008. Yokagawa offers CellVoyager series products for high content imaging.
