WELLESLEY, Mass., May 15, 2019–Advances in technology such as laser lipolysis and dynamic pulse control are helping to boost the market for non-invasive body contouring devices, according to a report by BCC Research.

The market expects to see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.9% through 2023, when it could be worth $2.1 billion, according to the report, You Should Know This: Global Body Contouring Devices Market.

Major players in the market include Alma Lasers,  Energist, Lumenis, Meridian Co., Merz Pharma and Syneron Medical.

Research Highlights

  • North America led the global market for body contouring by region in 2017. The North American market is driven primarily by the region’s disposable per capita income and demand for non-invasive cosmetic surgeries.
  • Asia-Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing region during the forecast period due to a rise in medical tourism in Thailand and Malaysia, market potential in untapped emerging economies, and a surge in the popularity of body contouring.
  • The fastest-growing aesthetic cosmetic procedures between 2016 and 2017 include vaginal rejuvenation (22.4%), lower body lift (21.8%) and buttock implants (17.6%).

“Body contouring is usually adopted by individuals who have undergone bariatric surgeries or who are obese,” notes report author Vijay Laxmi. “The increase in the number of overweight individuals has led to increased adoption of body contouring devices. Moreover, an increase in the number of aesthetic procedures performed worldwide promotes demand for body contouring devices.”

New Technologies Entering the Market Promise More Growth

The emergence of new technologies is helping to drive market growth, the report adds. Intense pulsed light is a dermatology technique for removing acne scars and stretch marks and for avoiding the regrowth of unwanted hair. The Inmode Aesthetic Solution, launched in 2016, use RF-assisted lipolysis to address the drawbacks associated with traditional liposuction or surgical face and body lifts, including wrinkled skin and scarring.
