Asia-Pacific Currently Largest and Fastest Growing Market for Embedded Systems

November 30, 2018

WELLESLEY, Mass., Nov 30,2018 – The Asia-Pacific region is expected to see a boom in demand for embedded systems over the next five years, according to the new BCC Research report “Embedded Systems: Technologies and Asia-Pacific Markets.” This regional market is expected to reach nearly $100 billion in 2023 at a 5-year compound annual growth rate of 5.8% from 2018-2023.

The Asia-Pacific market for embedded systems is largely driven by factors such as significant growth in consumer electronics demand, growing Internet of Things (IoT), growing connected cars market and increasing usage of robotics. However, the market for embedded systems in Asia-Pacific is restrained due to increasing security concerns towards embedded systems.

Research Highlights

  • Growing demand for consumer electronics is driving demand for embedded systems
  • The Internet of Things a key driver for embedded systems market growth
  • China is the leading contributor for the Asia-Pacific embedded systems market

Some of the major players in the embedded systems in the Asia-Pacific embedded systems market include Advantech (2395), Fujitsu Ltd, Infineon Technologies, Intel Corporation (INTC), Kontron AG, Microchip Technology Corporation, Renesas Electronics (RNECF) and NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) among others.

“Over the past ten years, market dynamics affecting embedded technology have changed radically,” said BCC Research analyst Nikhil Dasyam. “New buzzwords have emerged, and ‘hot’ devices and technologies have become ‘cold,’ e.g. MP3 players, one of the must-have devices of 2003, have gone out of fashion. Many ‘embedded’ devices have become ‘open’ because it is now possible to upload programs since the introduction of Android and Linux ecosystems.
