Borealis is 75% controlled by OMV, an Austrian international oil and gas firm, and 25% is owned by a Mubadala holding company based in Abu Dhabi. Borealis and two key joint ventures, Borogue (with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., or ADNOC, based in the UAE) and Baystar, provide services and products to customers all over the world (with Total, based in the U.S.).
