Nearly half of all restaurants offer burgers on their menus.

Burger prices have risen at nearly double the rate of inflation (8.6%)1 across all segments over the past four years.

Burgers are overwhelmingly eaten away-from- home. The availability, convenience, and general affordability of restaurant burgers likely make them a top-of-mind choice when dining out.

When it comes to burgers, consumers reach for beef. Despite obstacles that face the beef industry including rising costs, safety concerns, and sustainability issues, Americans overwhelmingly eat beef burgers over poultry, seafood, or vegetarian options.

Each week, three out of four Americans eat a burger. Consumers have burgers top of mind with one-quarter who eat burgers on any given day.

Lunch and dinner see the majority of burger consumption. However, in-between meals may be an opportunity to reach burger cravers with sliders or snack-sized options.

Cheeseburgers are, by far, the most popular burger variety. BBQ, veggie, bacon, and turkey burgers round out the top five varieties featured on menus today.

QSR restaurants are differentiating their burger menus through the addition of unique toppings and flavors.

Beef patties are purchased by over 90% of burger operators with over half purchasing a frozen format. Over half of burger operators offer some type of veggie patty option, slightly more than the number who offer a turkey burger option.
