Wellesley, Mass., Jun 21, 2017 – Rising demand for automotive and industrial applications, along with implementation of stricter passenger-safety legislation, are driving solid growth in the global market for acoustic sensors, reports Acoustic Sensors: Technologies and Global Markets. The June 2017 report predicts the market for acoustic wave sensors will grow from nearly $6.0 billion in 2016 to nearly $8.2 billion by 2021.
Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are gaining popularity due to their increasing applications in different markets such as industrial, military, communications, and safety monitoring. The BCC Research study also finds that the demand for bulk acoustic wave (BAW) sensors is growing rapidly as it migrates from the military and high-end industrial markets into consumer wireless applications.
Research Highlights
"In the current market scenario, smart sensors are much in demand in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive and healthcare, as well as in some industrial sectors, such as textile, material manufacturing and food and beverage among others," says Kevin Fitzgerald, BCC Research editorial director. "Thus, the demand for SAW sensors will increase, which will foster rapid growth of that device market."
