Growing concerns related to the environment and the adverse effects of chemical-based agrochemicals on human health are driving future prospects for bio-based pesticides and fertilizers. Popular pesticides such as Killex herbicides, “weed and feed” fertilizer-pesticide mixtures and Weedout herbicides will be affected by the ban. During the same period, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved a number of new biopesticides for commercial use such as iron HEDTA, oriental mustard seed and hydrogenated catmint oil.

Major manufacturers of agrochemicals are incorporating different strategies for future growth. Dow AgroSciences LLC and Taminco U.S. Inc. entered into a supply agreement for the manufacture of choline hydroxide, a raw material that is used in the herbicide Enlist Duo. In 2012, Syngenta launched its Talon rodenticide product range in the U.K. Dow AgroSciences, Syngenta and Bayer CropScience are among the major companies profiled in this report.
